We’ve got fond memories of CBeebies TV show In The Night Garden: our two sons are old enough now to prefer belching, farting cartoon characters to dreamlike woodland tales. Woe!
If your children are still committed fans of Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and their friends, though, you may wish to check out a new official In The Night Garden Playtime app.
Released by developer P2 Entertainment, which has worked on apps for Peppa Pig, Mister Maker and other TV brands, it’s a collection of five mini-games based on familiar In The Night Garden scenes.
Your children will be exploring Igglepiggle’s Stepping Stones; having a Makka Pakka Face Wash; playing with Tombliboos Building Blocks; trying a spot of Upsy Daisy Colouring In; and finishing off All Aboard the Ninky Nonk.
(Poor Pinky Ponk: left out this time, seemingly.)
It’s very much an app for preschoolers, so each mini-game is very simple, with the kind of repetition that young children are looking for.
The app may lack some of the playful bells and whistles of apps from developers like Toca Boca and Sago Sago targeting the same age group, but it looks like it does a good job of bringing some favourite scenes and characters from In The Night Garden to smartphones and tablets.
In The Night Garden costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and £1.99 for Android from the Google Play store. No in-app purchases are included.
