It’s certainly possible to make Mickey Mouse from Play-Doh or plasticine, but you’ll need some skills. Disney’s new Squish: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse app makes it easier.
Released for iPhone and iPad this week, it’s all about digital sculpting of Mickey, Minnie and their friends from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse TV show.
“Stretch, push, and pull clay to make your very own version of Mickey or Minnie, or start from scratch with dozens of fun clay shapes from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse universe,” explains its App Store listing. “Once you’re finished, you can twist, inflate, and melt your creation using fun and unique Squishers.”
That hints at the wide age range Disney is targeting with the app: it wants young children to be able to make their favourite characters without getting frustrated, while giving more creative licence to older kids, who are more likely to have their own ideas about what to make.
Squishers? That would be the Twisterator, Melter and Inflaterator, which provide suitably silly effects – with no danger that they’ll end with your living room or child’s bedroom covered in bits of sticky dough. Which then dries to rock-hard levels before you can scrape it off. Parents, you know what we’re talking about here…
Everything your children make can be saved to an in-app gallery, for showing off to all and sundry. It seems that Disney will also be offering extra packs to download. The first, Free Squish Pack, is free with “new shapes and a bonus squisher, the Tap ‘n Breaker”. We suspect there may be more paid packs – perhaps based on other Disney characters – to come.
Squish: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse costs £2.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
