FC Barcelona launch official app for football-crazy kids

Boo! The World Cup is over. Hurrah! The new football season is only about a month away. And now parents who are fans of Catalan giants Barcelona have an extra reason to be happy.

FC Barcelona Kids is a new iPhone and iPad app for children released by developer Planet Factory this week, seemingly with the club’s blessing.

“Let your kids play with safe games and feel the colours of our club,” explains its App Store listing, promising a collection of more than 50 mini-games for children as young as two years old, although it stresses that adults can play too.

“Games and educational activities to help develop visual acuity, memory, spatial organization, observation, colouring,” is how the app is being pitched, with a choice of English, Spanish and Catalan language.

That means it could be a good tool to help young Barcelona fans in the club’s home country learn English, or for English kids attracted by the team’s stars including Neymar, Lionel Messi and now Luis Suarez to practise their Spanish.

It looks bright, colourful and fun. FC Barcelona Kids is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and for now, there are no in-app purchases included either.
