Beano stars Dennis the Menace and Gnasher get Prank Sticker app

screen1136x1136 (4)I grew up with Dennis the Menace and Gnasher when reading the Beano, so it’s nice to see the pair living on – not just in comic form, but as a TV show too. And now as an app.

Dennis & Gnasher’s Prank Sticker was released this week for iPhone and iPad by Beano publisher D C Thomson, and as you can tell from the title, it carries their mischievous cartoon antics through into the app world.

It’s an app for manipulating photos by adding an array of Menacing (digital) stickers to them, before sharing them with friends and family.

“100+ silly stickers to add to your work of art including POO and PHAAAART stickers… you’ll find LOADS to BASH out,” as the App Store listing puts it. Ahem.

We’ve seen this kind of app prove popular with adults – musician Snoop Dogg had one that took off last year for example – but the idea is still relatively fresh for children. PopJam, from the makers of Moshi Monsters, is one recent example.

Dennis & Gnasher’s Prank Sticker costs £0.69 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store. That’s a single price to unlock everything within the app: unlike some of the other examples of this kind of app, there are no in-app purchases to buy sticker packs.

And if the app inspires your children to seek out back issues of The Beano, you may want to check out the separate The Beano Comic iOS app, which sells old digital issues for 69p a pop.
