Grr! Young viewers have been looking forward to the premiere of the third series of children’s drama Wolfblood on CBBC in the UK. Now there’s an app for it.
That app is called Wolfblood: Shadow Runners, and it’s been released for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
The game is an endless runner in a similar vein to Temple Run, except here your children will be playing as a wolf, swiping on the screen to dodge left and right, jump up or smash their way through obstacles.
Actually, this is more than an endless runner though. There’s also a Story Mode, which is more closely tied to the new series of Wolfblood, complete with voiceovers from two of its stars: Bobby Lockwood and Kedar Williams-Stirling.
There are 10 levels to play initially, each with its own motion comic to explain what’s happening. The Beeb says that there’ll be seven more levels, each unlocked as a new episode airs on TV over the coming weeks.
“Unlocking new levels and content in an app alongside a series is a new approach for us, and Wolfblood: Shadow Runners is a great example of how an app can complement a TV show by providing a rich online experience across multiple platforms,” said the BBC’s Patrick Healy.
It sounds like a good idea to us, and if children get antsy waiting for the new level each week, they can always play the endless mode to keep their skills topped up.
Wolfblood: Shadow Runners is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and a free download for Android from the Google Play store. There are no in-app purchases, but note, the game is UK-only.
