It’s half-term here in the UK and – weather willing – there’ll be a lot of parents taking their children to the nearest farm for some cow / sheep / chicken-watching action. And when they get home, perhaps they’ll be doing it digitally too thanks to the latest app from developer Ahoiii.

It’s called Fiete – A Day on a Farm, and is the latest in the company’s series of Fiete apps, based on a stripy-garbed sailor and his friends. This one’s our favourite yet, swapping ships for farm animals.

“In this lovingly created app the children help Fiete and his two friends Hinnerk and Hein in their daily work on the farm,” explains its app store listing.

“The kids collect eggs from the henhouse in the morning, shear the sheep at noon and feed the pigs in the evening. And when all the work is done, there is even a bit of time left to spend around the campfire…”

There are certainly plenty of activities: besides those listed above, children can harvest carrots, clean the pigs, pick apples and milk the cow. All with the characterful illustrations and animation that we’ve come to expect from the Fiete apps.
