Is there no end to children’s app character Dr Panda’s talents? TribePlay’s animal hero has been a teacher, a doctor, a restaurant chef (twice!), a handyman and numerous other professions in past apps.

Now he’s trying life as a postman in new app Dr. Panda’s Postman – or, if you’re in the US, Dr. Panda’s Mailman. This time round, he’s riding round a colourful town on his scooter delivering letters.

“Explore a world filled with mountains, houses, rivers, forests and more as you deliver mail to over 10 animals—all with their own unique personalities,” explains its app store listing. “Create your own postcards, make sure the packages are wrapped up, and bring them wherever they need to go.”

The graphics of the Dr Panda apps have improved steadily over the past year, as has the creative ambition of the apps: there’s a lot here for children to explore, and plenty of freedom to figure out how they want to play, rather than having to complete set tasks.

Dr. Panda’s Postman costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and £1.79 for Android from the Google Play store. And remember, it’s “Mailman” in some countries…
