Dr Seuss Treasury lets parents subscribe for all the books

Here’s an interesting idea: an app that gives children access to every one of the Dr Seuss books that’s been digitised, for a subscription fee paid by parents.

It’s called Dr Seuss Treasury, and is the work of publisher Oceanhouse Media, which has been busily bringing the Seussian archives to mobile devices for the past few years.

The idea here: you can try the app for free for seven days, with access to more than 50 books, from the most famous like The Cat in the Hat and The Grinch to the more obscure (but still as enjoyable, in our opinion) works.

Once that week is up, you’ll have to pay to continue getting access: in US pricing, it’s $14.99 per quarter, $49.99 per year or $99.99 to purchase all the books for good (well, for as long as you have this app, obviously).

As with the standalone Dr Seuss apps, there’s voice narration for every story, and the ability for children to record themselves reading the words, and to tap on individual words to have them read out.

Oceanhouse says parents will also be able to see how their children are reading the books “with statistics for number of books read, hours read, pages turned, and words tapped”.

Dr Seuss Treasury is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
