Christmas Day is a brilliant day to release a children’s app, given the millions of parents likely looking for things to download onto their kids’ new tablets. It’s not, however, such a good day for bloggers to be writing about said apps.
Well, that’s our excuse for only just getting round to writing about Sago Mini Fairy Tales, whose festive launch eluded as as we stuffed ourselves with turkey and swore at complicated Lego Ninjago toys while expectant children looked on.
Still, this app is a treat at any time of year: it stars the familiar figure of Jinja the cat, who children will recognise from past Sago Sago apps – and if they don’t, that’s a whole world of fun to introduce them to.
“Explore an enchanted forest with Jinja the cat. Invite Jinja out to play and discover a magical world filled with familiar fairy tale characters,” explains its App Store listing.
“Laugh as you encounter gnomes, dragons and even a frog prince. Make new friends, play dress up and unearth silly surprises. This open-ended play experience is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.”
You’ll recognise the format if you’ve downloaded past apps like Sago Mini Ocean Swimmer and Sago Mini Space Explorer, and it remains just as delightful for young children.
Sago Mini Fairy Tales costs £2.29 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
