Anorak children’s magazine goes digital with new app

We love Anorak, the print magazine that styles itself as “the happy mag for kids”. And we were also quite keen on its Happy TV app back in 2012. Now it’s getting a full digital edition in a new app.

Anorak App was launched in January, with its first digital edition mirroring the theme of the print version – ‘Dreams’ – but with plenty of interactive extras aimed at its six-and-up audience.

“It takes you on a journey to discover why we dream, how dreaming has influenced many people throughout history and invites you to pay a visit to the Shop of Dreams,” explains Anorak’s App Store listing.

“On top of all this dreamy stuff, there are fun colouring activities, word searches and comics that are sure to fire up your imagination.”

It’s colourful, creative and oozes a similar sense of fun to the print magazine, which is a good thing especially if you don’t live near any shops that stock the latter. The plan is to release a new edition every three months, matching the print schedule.

“While our first love remains the printed matter, the digital world allows us to expand our wings creatively and gain new readers, while remaining committed to encouraging kids to learn and exercise their creativity,” says editor Cathy Olmedillas.

Anorak App costs £2.99 for iPad from Apple’s App Store, with the second edition due out in March.
