Chuggington returns to iOS with We are the Chuggineers

We miss Chuggington. Our sons have grown out of the pre-school TV show, so we haven’t clapped eyes on Brewster and co for well over a year. Bah.

If, however, your children are still loving the talking trains, good news: they have a new official app for iPhone and iPad called Chuggington: We Are The Chuggineers.

It’s the work of developer StoryToys, which made the last (very good) Chuggington app, Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue. This one offers a similar mix of story and fun mini-games for young fans.

“Danger looms as the Chuggineers build a bridge for the new high-speed link to Tootington – but eagle-eyed Brewster saves the day,” explains its App Store listing.

If this sounds familiar, that’s unsurprising: it’s based on an extended episode of the TV show – Chuggineers: Ready to Build. That means it stars a new set of characters: Zack, Tyne, Fletch, Carmac and Payce.

The TV show link is about more than that, though: there are seven clips from the show sitting alongside the four games and 17 pages of animated story. Note, the games are pretty whizzy compared to what you usually get in storybook-style apps: a definite step up.

Anyway, it looks great fun for fans. Chuggington: We Are The Chuggineers costs £3.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
