DreamWorks’ Home movie gets official ‘Boov Pop’ game

We caught the trailer for DreamWorks’ new animated film Home during a recent cinema trip, and it looks really good. We’ve yet to see the actual movie, but its official mobile game is now available.

Home: Boov Pop! was released this week for iPhone and iPad by developer Behaviour Interactive, which describes it as “a puzzle game that defies the laws of physics”.

It doesn’t defy the laws of what makes a popular puzzle game on smartphones and tablets, mind: this is a “match-three” puzzler – a genre that’s become hugely popular through games like Candy Crush Saga and Bejeweled in recent years.

Here, children (and parents, possibly) will be connecting “Boov” bubbles to make them pop, with playable characters from the film including Oh, Tip and Captain Smek. Each comes with their own power-up to make the bubble-popping easier.

The game is colourful and fun. It’s also freemium, though: free to download and play, but making its money from in-app purchases of virtual coins.

They range in price from 275 coins for £3.99 to 3,375 coins for £44.99 so, as ever, make sure that you’ve had a chat to your child about in-app purchases and – if they’re young enough to possibly get carried away – that you’ve locked down your restrictions on spending money in this way.

Home: Boov Pop! is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
