Aardman Animations’ Timmy Time has become a firm favourite with pre-schoolers around the world. Now he’s the star of a new app for learning English.
Learning Time with Timmy has been released for iPad and Android tablets by Aardman and the British Council, as a spin-off from their existing partnership on an English-language course for kids.
The app is aimed at children aged six and younger. “Play three exciting games and learn over 60 new words,” explains its app store listing.
“Listen to the narrator and follow the instructions to place toys and classroom objects in a box, pop balloons to learn numbers, colours and shapes and sweep away leaves and snow to find food and objects hidden beneath.”
As they work through the app, children will get stickers and video clips to mark their progress. And while it’s aimed at non-English speakers, we can imagine children in the UK who are learning their first words will enjoy it too.
Learning Time with Timmy costs £2.29 for iPad from Apple’s App Store, and £2.29 for Android from the Google Play store.
