Alfie Atkins wants to Find Adventure in new kids’ app

Alfie Atkins? Who he? If you’re Scandinavian, you might know him as Willi Wiberg or Alfons Åberg, which are a couple of the names this fictional character has appeared under in books.

We wrote about him in early 2014 when he made his app debut in Hocus Pocus Alfie Atkins, a game for 3-9 year-olds. Now he’s back with an app called Find Adventure, Alfie Atkins, released by developer Gro Play.

We like the look of it, too: it wants to be an app that children use together to create. “Together with Alfie, you and your kids can craft crazy helicopters and weird boats,” explains its App Store listing.

“Also you can travel into unexplored territories and fly around among stars and planets. You can play with Alfie’s friends and together you can go treasure hunting.”

The app is based on the Very Tricky, Alfie Atkins book by Gunilla Bergström, so it may feel familiar to some children. Gro Play says it wants to inspire kids to make things in the real world out of objects lying around their homes.

Find Adventure, Alfie Atkins costs £2.29 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
