We know publisher Nosy Crow best for its fairytale storybook apps, but the company’s latest is a game: My Brother is a Superhero.
It’s a free release designed to promote the book of the same name, which the company’s book publishing division also launched this week.
The game’s hero is Starlad, who has to use his superpowers to prevent asteroids from smashing into the earth. How? Well, that’s where your children come in.
They’ll be dragging the right-coloured icons into the way of asteroids, with red icons breaking them up, purple icons repelling them, and green icons exploding to destroy everything within range.
It’s simple to play, but very fun indeed: children will get to grips with the controls immediately, but they’ll love seeing how long they can last.
It’s the kind of game that parents may be having a few goes on once the kids are in bed too.
My Brother is a Superhero is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store. And if the book piques your interest: it’s aimed at 9-12 year-olds and sounds MARVELLOUS. Here’s Nosy Crow’s blog post with more information on that.

Inspired by the hilarious new children s book by David Solomons, this free game app is incredibly addictive and lots of fun!
