Jungle Book gets a BabyLit app revamp for kids

Children have grown up with several takes on The Jungle Book down the years: for some it’s the original book by Rudyard Kipling, while for others it’s the iconic Disney movie.

Now today’s children have another option: a marvellous new app from developer Night & Day Studios called BabyLit Jungle Book Hide & Seek.

Released for iPhone and iPad, it’s a new, interactive take on Kipling’s classic stories. “This app has kids help Mowgli find his friends in the jungle in a stunning layered 3D jungle,” explains its App Store listing.

“Hold up the device and twist side to side and up and down (or swipe and explore) until you find Baloo, Bagheera, and other characters; hear their names and quotes from the beloved Kipling tales.”

There are 10 jungle animals to find, with information about each that may well encourage your children to read (or have read to them – this is more for toddlers and pre-school children) the original stories.

Anyway, it’s a neat use for the device, with plenty of charm. BabyLit Jungle Book Hide & Seek costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
