Put the pieces together in Kids Puzzles Puzzingo

Kids Puzzles Puzzingo is an app we’ve been meaning to cover for a while now: its developer 77Sparx Studio is one of the companies exploring how physical puzzles might work on touchscreens.

In this case, they work very well. It’s not so much about jigsaw puzzles: more the wooden puzzles aimed at younger children, where pieces have to be slot into the right holes in a bigger picture.

Here, you get 90 puzzles with a range of themes, from animals and cars to shapes, food and letters. A number of these puzzles are free, while others are bought (by you!) via in-app purchases, if you decide you want to.

The app is colourful, with big, bold graphics that make it clear what children have to do on each puzzle. There are also some fun mini-games around the basic puzzle action, as rewards for finishing each one.

One thing we do like, too, is the fact that there’s a choice of English or UK English for the voiceover – we’re used to only getting one option (which is often an American accent) so a British accent is nice to hear. Not that we have anything against the US, obviously!

Chinese is also included, which may help children there who are learning English, or indeed children here learning Chinese.

Kids Puzzles Puzzingo is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and a free download for Android from the Google Play store.
