Unicorn Glitterluck is a sparkly app treat for kids

Fox, sheep and… unicorns? That sounds like a strange farm to us. But it’s not: children’s apps developer Fox & Sheep has made a lovely new game called Unicorn Glitterluck.

It’s a collaboration with toy company HABA, inspired by its board game of the same name. The game bills itself as “the first 3D side runner game designed especially for young kids”.

(Adults may have fond memories of a pair of games – Robot Unicorn Attack and Robot Unicorn Attack 2 – that offer a similar mix of side-running and horned mythical beasts.)

Here, children start by making their own unicorn, choosing their colour, tweaking their horn, mane and tail, and plastering on digital stickers of their choice.

They then get to race them. “The ride through the worlds will be full of lovely surprises and your child’s unicorn will even slide down a rainbow to reach the magic castle,” explains the App Store listing.

This isn’t just for fun, even if it is very good fun. Fox & Sheep reckons that your children will be able to learn the numbers 1 to 20 as they go, while the option to switch into different languages may be useful for kids who are dabbling in foreign lingo.

Anyway, it’s a colourful treat. Unicorn Glitterluck costs £2.29 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store, with no in-app purchases included.
