It’s hard to know who’ll be more excited about the Moomijis Moomin Stickers app: children, or the parents who grew up with the well-loved hippo-ish characters.
Tove Jansson first created the Moomins in 1945, and they’ve since starred in books and several TV shows. This being 2016, though, their latest outing is in a ‘stickers’ app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
“By installing the app and activating the Moomin sticker keyboard you’ll get 24 different images to comment and illustrate how you feel - using Moomins,” explains its app store listing.
You can use the stickers in other messaging apps like iMessage (on iOS), WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Snapchat, as well as in emails. That’s a clue that the main audience for Moomijis will be adults – or at least teenagers old enough to have their own smartphones and be using messaging apps.
(In which case, we can’t help wondering whether they’ll also still be into the Moomins…)
Anyway, the stickers feature characters including Moomintroll, Little My, Snorkmaiden, Moominpappa, Moominmamma, Sniff, Snufkin, Mymble, Stinky and the scary Groke. And with a new TV series on the way, this might be the perfect time to add a little Moomin twist to your messaging.
Moomijis Moomin Stickers costs £0.79 for iPhone and iPad, and £0.94 for Android.
