There are a growing number of children’s apps that focus on learning foreign languages. Disney had a Toy Story-branded app to teach kids Chinese last year, for example.
Little Thinking Minds is an interesting addition to the collection, then. It’s an iPad app that aims to teach children Arabic in four sections: colours, shapes, animals and numbers.
The teaching happens via videos and songs, with the former mixing hand-drawn animations with actual footage of children playing.
Some clips are free to watch, but others are paid for via in-app purchase: 69p a clip, £1.99 for all songs in a section, or £8.99 for the entire section’s film. Each clip must be downloaded to your iPad before it can be watched.
Little Thinking Minds is initially a free download for iPad, though. If your children are learning Arabic, it’s worth a look.
