Disney Princess: Story Theater app gets creative for kids

Children rarely want to passively read stories on touchscreen devices. They want to interact with them, and maybe even create their own tales.

Disney Princess: Story Theater is one of a growing number of apps helping with the latter. It stars three Disney princess characters – Cinderella, Belle and Ariel – with their own stories, and tools for kids to make up their own.

“Relax and watch or join in the fun as your child creates animated videos with Cinderella, Belle, and Ariel while learning how to tell stories along the way,” as the App Store listing puts it.

“Step right into the worlds of the Disney Princesses with a set of favorite characters, backgrounds, and props—the possibilities are endless as your child gets to tell her own version of the story.”

The app includes voice narration and music for the preset stories, and has launched not that long after a similar app for Sofia the First, which is a show on the Disney Junior TV channel.

That’s a hint that more Story Theater apps may be on the way starring some other popular Disney characters, which could be fun.

Disney Princess: Story Theater costs £1.99 on the App Store, and runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
