Gomma Friends app gets kids creating in the real world too

We’re always happy to see apps that try to spark physical play as well as digital play. Gomma Friends is the latest creative example.

Released for iPad and Android tablets by a company called Gomma Play, it’s partly a dress-up app. Children create outfits for eight animated characters in various scenes, from a beach or a jungle to a magical fairy world.

The twist: in Gomma Friends, every time your child creates a scene, they’ll unlock “gifts” in the app’s album section: paper models that you can print, cut out and set up in the real world.

It’s a great idea, and one we’ve seen before in apps like Foldify. The illustrations and characters in Gomma Friends are well-crafted too, so you’ll be doing plenty of printing.

Gomma Friends costs £0.69 for iPad on Apple’s App Store, and £0.76 for Android on the Google Play store. Free trial versions are also available on both – iPad and Android.
