Bloxy Girls app gets decorating on iPhone and iPad

Lego for girls? Don’t all shout at once: yes, actual Lego is just as fun for girls as boys – it’s a gender-neutral toy. Although the Lego Friends range of mini-figures is certainly more aimed at girls.

Bloxy Girls isn’t by Lego, but you can tell this new app has been inspired by the classic building-bricks. “Build and decorate houses, rooms, cafes and anything you can imagine in this exciting decorating game,” explains its App Store listing, promising “110+ bricks, 18 sweet mini-figures, 5 cute animals” to play with.

The idea is that kids decorate a range of buildings, including a house, holiday villa, shopping mall and cafe, unlocking new mini-figures as they go with a three-star system.

The results can be saved and shared with friends and family, with the app enabling several children to be registered (and thus do their own decorating without wiping over a sibling’s work).

The app is the work of Bloxy, a new company formed by apps developer Next is Great. It’s not their first Bloxy app either: we wrote about their Bloxy HD app last year, and that’s still available.

Bloxy Girls costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store, with no in-app purchases, ads or social networking features.
