London with a baby can be a marvellous place, but it can also be stressful. Can you get your pushchair down the escalator at the nearest tube station? Where to go in a nappy-changing panic situation? And so on.
New iPhone app Gobaby aims to help. Styling itself as “The Map App for Mums on the Go”, it catalogues more than 1,000 places across London, including cafes, libraries, museums and shops, to help parents avoid getting into a flap.
You can also review locations to give tips to fellow parents, while also checking out live service updates for the Tube system – good for avoiding bottlenecks when trying to get a grumpy child home quickly.
My one quibble is over the “Mums” thing, given that there are surely a fair few dads also braving the capital with their babies. It’s the same reservation I had about the similar WOWMUM app last year, although in June they launched a separate WOWDAD app to make up for it.
Anyway, that doesn’t make Gobaby any less useful, whatever your gender. Gobaby costs £1.49 for iPhone from Apple’s App Store.
