Okay, okay, so we wrote the other day about apps publisher Oceanhouse Media’s last Dr Seuss app. We weren’t quite right on that one!
On Beyond Zebra! may have been the last traditional Seussian story to be turned into an app, but Oceanhouse is still working on the separate line of The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library educational apps.
The latest is There’s a Map on My Lap! and as the name implies, it’s all about maps. The famously-hatted cat hosts, teaching the Sally and Dick characters about cartography.
“Learn the many uses of different types of maps, including city, state, world, topographic, temperature, terrain and more,” explains its App Store listing. “Find out about various map formats (flat, globe, atlas, puzzle) and tools used to read them (symbols, scales, grids, compasses).”
Aimed at 5-10 year-olds, it joins previous Learning Library apps focused on insects, marine life, dinosaurs, space and the North and South Poles.
There’s a Map on My Lap! costs £2.49 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
