Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy has a Candy Jam game

While writing about the new Moshi Monsters Music app this morning, we spotted a surprise on the App Store: Candy Jam.

It’s a game by Mind Candy, the company behind the Moshi Monsters children’s virtual world, and it appears to have quietly launched in July without anybody writing about it.

So what is Candy Jam? Billed as “the quiz with fizz” on the App Store, it’s a trivia game that encourages players to “befuddle your brain in solo player mode in this fast, furious, super sweet game! Or, try beating your Facebook friends in head to head quiz battles”.

The fact that you can play against Facebook friends shows this is aimed at an older age group than Moshi Monsters – remember, you’re supposed to be 13 before signing up for Facebook – as are its use of in-app purchases.

Candy Jam is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, but you can buy virtual ‘golden tickets’ for between £0.69 and £6.99 to unlock new question packs in the game.

It’s colourful and cartoony with a sense of fun – the first game we played was Dog Cat Frog Rabbit, which gets you spotting which animal is on-screen as quickly as possible, for example.

We’ll be interested to see how Candy Jam develops in the coming months.
