There’s a mini-boom of shape-recognition apps for children at the moment, with Mr Fox and Shapes the latest in a group that also includes Dragon Shapes, the three Tiggly Shapes apps and Jake’s Never Land Shapes and Patterns.

This new iPad app, created by parents Edit and Alex, is a fab addition to the App Store. It sees the Mr Fox character and his friends taking part in seven shape-based mini-games for preschoolers.

Your children will be building a ship, space rocket and circus tent, as well as playing simple, accessible games to learn key shapes and colours. And any app that includes “funny animals making funny noises” as a feature in its App Store listing knows what makes our two sons giggle!
