Being a 36 year-old man, I remember Babar the Elephant from my childhood. In 2013, though, he’s finding a new generation of fans through TV show Babar and the Adventures of Badou.
Now there’s an app for that, from developer Cupcake Digital (who’ve got experience in this TV-to-apps lark from apps like Fraggle Rock Game Day and Good Night Wubbzy). The app is Babar & Badou’s Musical Marching Band, and it’s a storybook app with music and mini-games to the fore:
“On the day of the rhinos’ royal visit, Prince Badou learns that Ambassador Crocodylus is going to play a trick on King Babar,” explains its App Store listing. “The sneaky crocodile’s marching band is going to learn a welcome song that sounds just awful. Can Badou stop the silly prank and save the day?”
Children can read the story (or have it read to them), watch a music video, and play mini-games that include catching falling bananas, hunting for hidden objects and flying a ‘zoomerblimp’. There’s also a Music Maker section to create tunes, and some digital colouring pages.
Babar & Badou’s Musical Marching Band costs £2.49 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
