Roll up, roll up! Join the Shiny Circus!

We first spotted developer Shiny Things with their Quick Math+ app, but now they’re turning their attention to something different: Shiny Circus.

Aimed at 4-6 year-olds, the app is set in a circus and focuses on three animal characters: Charlie, Alice and Ralph. After Charlie ends up in the show by accident, your kids have the responsibility of helping him get through the experience.

It’s a storybook app with colourful, fun mini-games all set in the circus ring. There’s also a strong educational angle, since the app aims to introduce some key maths concepts alongside the entertainment.

“Children will explore measurement by making comparisons of length and width, area, distance, and mass, and learn the everyday language we use to describe these concepts,” explains its App Store listing.

If you’re thinking that the best way to explain concepts of (for example) distance, velocity and trajectory is to sling a helmet-wearing monkey across a circus ring from a giant catapult, you’re on the same wavelength as us, so should find this fun!

Shiny Circus costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
