Wake Up Mo! storybook-app focuses on morning routines

Morning routines for children? I’m pleased if I can get our kids to a.) stop fighting, b.) submit to having their teeth brushed without a wrestling match, and c.) NO, REALLY, STOP FIGHTING.

Still, I dream of a calm, relaxed and above all unfighty morning routine for our two boys. Perhaps a new app called Wake Up Mo! can help. Well, I’m an optimist.

It’s the work of developer StoryToys: the sequel to their Goodnight Mo app from last October, which focused on a little monster named Mo’s bedtime routine.

The follow-up is all about the mornings. “As the sun rises and a new day begins, Mo, a cute little monster, gets ready for school,” explains its App Store listing. “Wake Up Mo! helps young children build a routine by completing tasks in the same order each morning, such as eating breakfast, getting dressed, brushing teeth and packing a bag.”

Aimed at children as young as 15 months up to three or four years old, the app follows previous StoryToys releases in being structured like a digital version of a pop-up book, with animated, interactive scenes to play with, as well as voice narration and text telling the story.

The app can switch between English, French, German and Spanish language, so it may have a secondary appeal if your children are starting to learn a foreign language. Well, one of those foreign languages, anyway.

Wake Up Mo! costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
