Saddle up your horse for the Wungi Knights app

Remember Wungi Pirates? We do: it was a fun ‘sandbox’ game for children to play at being virtual pirates, on the iPad.

Now it’s got a follow-up: Wungi Knights. If you think that involves jumping onto horseback, swishing swords and interacting with dragons… you’d be right!

The two apps are the work of the same developer, Wungi. Its main goal involves building a castle for a princess – Wungi says it’s aimed at boys and girls, but we sense it may skew towards the former, given that goal.

Still, 3-6 year-olds with a yen for all things chivalric should enjoy it: there’s a horse to ride (and wash), a dragon to fly and feed, swords to be forged, fruits to be sorted, and training dummies to be set about with your sharpest weapon.

Wungi stresses that while the app doesn’t use text – thus making it accessible for children who aren’t yet reading – it will help them practise their shape recognition, counting and sorting skills.

Wungi Knights costs £0.69 for iPad on Apple’s App Store, and £0.99 for Android on the Google Play store.
