Cartoon bunny Louie’s new app helps kids observe

Draw me a picture Louie! The artistic cartoon rabbit has won fans on television, but he’s also hopping onto iPhone and iPad with a new app: I Observe With Louie.

Released by Millimages, it aims to help children develop their observational skills, either playing the app on their own or sharing it with a sibling or parent.

“Learning attentively to observe one’s environment is key to learning to concentrate. And studies show that a child who develops his sense of observation solves problems in a more methodic way and is likely to be more successful,” suggests its App Store listing.

So how does it work? It’s based of images of Louie and his friends, which will be familiar to any children who’ve watched the TV show – and if they haven’t, the app may be the ideal introduction.

Each picture is divided up into sections, with children having to match individual fragments to the bigger picture. “As the game goes on the image is cut up into increasingly smaller parts. Your child will naturally grow to become more concentrated and methodical,” explains Millimages.

We like Louie, and we like the idea of this neat, colourful app. It’s not the first time he’s been available on the App Store either: we wrote about Louie Teach Me to Draw and Write in June 2012 for example. Others that we haven’t looked at include Louie Teach Me How to Count and I Speak French with Louie.

I Observe with Louie costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
