Boj – The Collector tumbles onto iPad with a new app

In theory, our two sons are a bit old for the CBeebies TV channel now. Still, some shows lure them back from the wilds of CBBC and Cartoon Network: most recently a character called Boj.

Now he’s got his own app, courtesy of developer Box of Frogs Media, which is describing it as an “interactive appbook”. Memo to parents of a certain age and excitability: the voice narration comes from Jason Donovan – he’s also one of the voices in the show, of course.

“Boj finds out all about collections and what they mean to him and his buddies,” explains the App Store listing. “Join Boj in a journey around Giggly Park as he collects things, builds things and generally makes stuff from other stuff!”

So, there’s an animated story featuring Boj and his friends from the show, complemented with mini-games, a karaoke singalong section, and lots of interactivity.

Young fans won’t be disappointed, and it’s just the first Boj app from Box of Frogs, so stay tuned for news of the second in the coming days.

Boj – The Collector costs £2.49 for iPad from Apple’s App Store, with no in-app purchases on top. And if you enjoy it, perhaps check out the developer’s other recent apps for children: Birgitte Berteldatter’s Brilliant Birds and Beasts and Little Lost Note.
