PARENTAL FROZEN KLAXON: Disney has released a brand new app based on its hugely-popular film, and this one will get children creating their own stories with Elsa, Anna, Olaf and friends.

It’s called Frozen: Story Theater, and it was quietly released for iPhone and iPad last week. Thankfully, our Let-It-Go-dar is so well tuned nowadays, we spotted it on the App Store.

The app is part of Disney’s Story Theater series, which use well-known stories to encourage children to start making up their own tales.

“Select your favourite location, add any characters you’d like, include Frozen-inspired props, choose from 6 different music tracks, record your voice, and create your story,” explains its App Store listing.

It’s like a digital equivalent of a puppet theatre in the way children can place their characters – Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, Marshmallow and the trolls are all included – on the screen, then speak their words.

There’s a choice of Story Play and Free Play modes, with the former more suitable for younger Frozen fans since it includes guided prompts. The latter’s more freeform approach is better for older children.

Stories can be saved to show to friends and family on the device, too. We think children will be champing at the bit to show their parents that their Frozen love goes beyond simply memorising all the words and songs, demanding all the merchandise, and insisting that they want to build a snowman even if it’s not snowy…

Frozen: Story Theater costs £4.49 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.

Previous apps in the series include Toy Story: Story Theater, Disney Princess: Story Theater and Sofia the First: Story Theater. But if your kids are more Frozen-focused, it may be worth checking out the apps Disney Karaoke: Frozen and Olaf’s Adventures.
