Frozen apps? They’re a big deal for the children who love Disney’s animated tale of Anna, Elsa and a snowman named Olaf. And now there’s a brand new app that aims to inspire your kids’ love of cookery and animals.

It’s called Frozen: Early Science – Cooking and Animal Care, it was released for iPhone and iPad this month, and it’s the latest in Disney’s series of educational Imagicademy apps.

“Join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and your favorite friends from Frozen as you run the new Nature Park in Arendelle!” explains its App Store listing.

“Help Anna and Kristoff care for a herd of adorable baby reindeer at the Reindeer Camp. With Olaf at your side, explore a fun selection of ingredients and tools as you cook amazing dishes for Elsa to taste in the Nature Park kitchen.”

Toca Kitchen meets My Horse, you could say. And Disney is keen to stress that while the app is playful and fun, there is serious science behind it, from understanding what animals need to stay healthy through to solids, liquids and gases in the kitchen.

Our guinea pig for the app was our six year-old niece, who was quickly cooking up some tasty dishes (and some frankly not-so-tasty-in-the-real world dishes, although the virtual Elsa seemed happy with them).

There are more than 35 ingredients to test out in the cookery section, and more than 15 different ailments for the poor reindeer in the animal care section, so there’s plenty for young Frozen fans to enjoy.

Frozen: Early Science – Cooking and Animal Care costs £4.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and if your children are Disney fans, do check out the first and second Imagicademy apps: Mickey’s Magical Maths World and Mickey’s Magical Arts World.

If they’re hardcore Frozen fans, though, we’d recommend Disney Frozen: Story Theater for creating their own stories with the Frozen characters, Olaf’s Adventures if they like playing games, and Disney Karaoke: Frozen if they want to sing along to the songs.
