Sago Mini Pet Cafe app chows down on iPhone and iPad

Children’s apps developer Sago Sago has been releasing a string of lovely apps for pre-schoolers this year: Sago Mini Sound Box, Sago Mini Forest Flyer, Sago Mini Bug Builder and Sago Mini Doodlecast.

Now they’ve been joined by a fifth app in the series: Sago Mini Pet Cafe, which came out today for iPhone and iPad. Aimed at 2-4 year-olds, it puts them in charge of a colourful cartoon cafe with three customers: a cat, a dog and a bird.

(The nice thing being that the cat and the dog both appeared in Sago Mini Sound Box, while the bird was the star of Sago Mini Forest Flyer.)

The new app includes three interactive activities, each with a light educational theme. One sees your child mixing colours to make a milkshake (and then getting the animals to drink it, changing colour in the process). Another gets them to count to 10 and sort items by colour, and another is a shape-matching mini-game using tilt or touch controls.

The controls are simple and intuitive, perfect for the target age group. Sago Sago is also establishing a memorable graphical style across its apps: the animals have lots of character.

Sago Mini Pet Cafe costs £0.69 / $0.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store. Here’s a demo video:
