We wrote about Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 Kids tablet for children when it was announced in August, but we didn’t know then when it might be launching beyond South Korea. We do now.
Samsung announced today that the device will go on sale in the UK on 1 November online, then 8 November in stores including Toys R Us, Argos, Dixons and Asda. Meanwhile, the US will be getting the tablet on 10 November, although pre-orders kick off on 1 November.
As a reminder, the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is a new version of the existing Galaxy Tab 3 tablet, with a seven-inch screen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor (translation: it’s fairly powerful) and 8GB of memory to store apps, e-books and other content.
Its casing has been redesigned to be more colourful and easily grippable by children, and there’s a time management mode for parents to control how long their kids can use it for. The tablet also comes with its own Kids Store to find new apps to download, but there’ll be a fair few preloaded on the device too.
Samsung hasn’t announced a price for the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids yet in the UK, but in the US it will cost $229.99. Here in the UK, it’ll be competing against Tesco’s Hudl, Argos’ MyTablet and Amazon’s Kindle Fire this Christmas for parents who want a seven-inch Android tablet – although don’t forget about Apple’s iPad mini too in that regard.
