Disney Frozen spawns a new app: Olaf’s Adventures

Olaf the snowman was by far my favourite character in Disney’s film Frozen. Now he’s getting his own spin-off app for iPhone and iPad: Olaf’s Adventures.

Released this week on the App Store, it’s a collection of mini-games and interactive activities based around the head-tossing snowman.

“Enjoy the hilarious all-new comedy of Olaf as you explore, braving Winter and discovering Spring,” as the App Store listing puts it.

“Watch out for Marshmallow’s falling snowballs, challenge Olaf in a hilarious snowball fight, and try your hand at the snowman shuffle! Some apps are just worth melting for, ya know?”

Well, let’s hope so. The app appears to be structured into seasons, with Winter featuring the Avalanche Game and Snowball Fight mini-games, then Spring offering a Fruit Fight and Snowman Shuffle.

Along the way, children will find 10 collectible items, which then unlock “exclusive snow globes for Elsa and Anna”. Meanwhile, actor Josh Gad – the voice of Olaf in the movie – supplies voice narration for this app too.

Olaf’s Adventures costs £2.49 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, although it’s listed as also using in-app purchases.

From the App Store listing, it looks like the in-app purchase is ‘Spring’ – that section of the app, although for now it’s listed as “free”, which may be some kind of launch offer.

Meanwhile, if your children love Frozen, you may want to check out previous apps Frozen: Storybook Deluxe (which is a retelling of the film) and Disney Karaoke: Frozen (which gets them to sing along with its soundtrack).
